South African Hollywood star, John Kani, says local audiences are in for a big treat with the release in July this year of a remake of Disney’s 1994 animated film, The Lion King.
The legendary 75 year- old actor is the voice of the eccentric and wise primate, Rafiki, which means “friend”. Kani recently starred in the international block buster, Black Panther, and has just completed filming a new murder mystery with Hollywood stars, Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.
Kani says the new Lion King uses new advanced animation and live-action filming techniques that look incredible on screen.
“It’s unbelievable, Disney has outdone themselves with Jon Favreau the director, I can’t say more, it’s going to be magic, this new technology of making animation so real. I was saying to my wife, “I hope I don’t look like that monkey.”
