Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Nelson Mandela Bay Metro council has finally passed its 2018/19 operational budget at its fourth attempt, with the African Independent Congress supporting a Democratic Alliance administration for the second day in succession.

The Mandela Bay council met the quorum Wednesday morning despite the absence of African National Congress and the Economic Freedom Fighters councilors.

Only council member, Tshonono Christopher Buyeye voted with the DA-led coalition in support of the budget.

He said on Tuesday that he had been instructed to defend the Metro administration by supporting the budget. On Tuesday, the DA-led Johannesburg council finally managed to pass its budget, with the support of the AIC as well as the EFF.
