South Africa’s former Ambassador to the United Nations in New York Dumisani Kumalo will be remembered at a memorial service Thursday morning at the OR Tambo Building in Pretoria.
The national flag will fly at half-mast from Thursday at all flag stations countrywide until the evening of the burial on Saturday.
As an anti-apartheid campaigner, Ambassador Kumalo played an influential role in the process that led to the UN’s declaration of apartheid as a crime against humanity.
The President has declared a Special Official Funeral category for the Ambassador who died last week at the age of 71.
