N West murder suspects expected in court

Six suspects arrested for murder in Gopane village near Zeerust in the North West, are expected to appear at the Lehurutshe Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

They were arrested after allegedly forcing Goitseone Nkgothwe to hang himself.

This after Nkgothwe allegedly confessed to killing a 75-year-old woman in Gopane village last week. The 75-year-old was found by neighbours with a cut at the back of her head.

Following the arrests of the accused on Tuesday morning, angry community members embarked on violent protests.

They disrupted schooling in the area and later took their anger to the N4 road linking Botswana and South Africa, through Zeerust town.

Several cars passing through the road were pelted were stones.

Protesters were demanding the release of six community members arrested for murder.

Since then the police have been monitoring the area.

On Thursday scores of people are expected to attend the court proceedings.
