The death toll in the collision that happened on the R49 between Mahikeng and Zeerust in the North West has risen to 13 after another injured person died. The collision between a minibus taxi and a bakkie happened on Saturday.
Passengers in the minibus taxi were traveling to Itsoseng township near Lichtenburg to attend a wedding while the bakkie was traveling to Zeerust.

Provincial Public Safety Spokesperson Thabo Sematle says the injured have been admitted to the Mahikeng provincial hospital.
“From the initial report, 11 people were reported to have lost their lives. That report later on changed to 13 people after the fatal accident that took place at Ottoshoop.”
