Reading Time: < 1 minute

The festive season is a time to be merry.  It is also a time when people go on a spending spree from buying expensive gifts and clothes for loved ones, to trimmings and decorations around the Christmas tree and at times, renovations around the house.

Malls in Kimberley in the Northern Cape, have been packed to capacity, with locals doing their final shopping for the festive season.

Some residents share their joy:

“We’ve found a lot of things and today again we are busy and still busy and searching and looking and buying gifts and so on. So yes we are finding what we are looking for,” says one resident.

“It’s a celebration because God was born that day and we as a family must celebrate it and just enjoy it,” adds another shopper.

As the saying goes: “Jesus is the reason for the season.” Christians all over the world, celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, who was born more than 2000 years ago.
