As Muslims across the world gather to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan, recent attacks on two mosques in the country have been remembered in Cape Town.
Young and old gathered at the Masjiedul Quds Mosque in Athlone on the Cape Flats. A call for unity has been made as well as concerns raised by clergy following Thursday’s deadly attack at a Mosque in Malmesbury where two worshipers were killed and the attacker shot by police.
“As yesterday we were starting to say Ul Fitr Ul Fitr again we faced with the brutal slaying and killing of another human being. Muslims in Masjied in Malmesbury and the curtains went down. What is playing itself out in our community.”
