Police are monitoring the situation in Sandriver, near Hazyview in Mpumalanga, as the community embark on a protest over the lack of electricity in the area.
Traffic flow to the Numbi gate at the Kruger National Park has been affected.
Residents are blocking the main road with stones and burning tyres.
Police spokesperson Mntsholi Bhembe has pleaded with motorists to be careful.
Bhembe says: “We sent our members including members of the Public Order Policing to restore or rather open the road.”
“Our members are there and monitoring the situation and we do have reason to believe that the road is now open.”
