The R575 between Middleburg and Bethal in Mpumalanga remains closed Wednesday morning following a crash involving a truck and a mini bus on Tuesday night.
The accident occurred on the R575 between Middleburg and Bethal just towards the N4 turnoff.
Eleven people were killed in the incident.
Authorities have advised road users to use alternative routes between the two towns.
Spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Moeti Mmusi says: “The road is still closed. Only one side of the road is open.”
“11 people died when a truck and minibus taxi collided head-on with a concrete mixer last night around 8:45PM.”
Seven people were seriously injured and were rushed to a local hospital.
