Mpumalanga collision affecting traffic

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Traffic is being affected as the N4 toll road, east of Mbombela in Mpumalanga, remains closed.

This comes after seven people were killed in a head-on collision in the early hours of Monday morning.

Traffic authorities say six of the people who died in the crash have been burnt beyond recognition.

Spokesperson for the Department of Safety, Security and Liaison, Joseph Mabuza, has advised motorists to use the KaMagugu north bound road.

“It is a head-on collision kind of crash whereby two vehicles were involved. It was a bakkie and a kombi. The driver of one of the vehicles lost control and veered to the other lane and both vehicles collided and seven people were killed. We estimate an hour or two because the pathologists are here now collecting the remains and then we will have to clean the road to make it user-friendly. However, we have requested motorists to take the road towards Ramagugu to Mbombela and vice versa and posted traffic officers on the other side of both lanes.”
