Motorists have been warned to avoid the on-ramp to N3 highway in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg, to a protest action.

Vincent Tshabalala road known as London road has been blockaded by burning tyres and other objects.

Johannesburg Metro Police spokesperson, Edna Mamonyane says two lanes have been closed on the N3…

“Protestors are saying that they have a problem with service delivery and electricity in the area. Metro police are on the scene. We are dealing with the traffic that is backed up badly on the N3 and requesting motorists to avoid the N3. If you are already on the N3 try and get off at Modderfontein.”

Meanwhile, police in KwaZulu-Natal says they have deployed various police units to monitor the situation on the N-2 near the Mfekayi area between Hluhluwe and Mtubatuba on the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal.

Two trucks have been burnt and others remains stuck on the road.

The Mfekayi community wants service delivery including houses, local clinic and a police station.

Police say some trucks remain stuck on the road after the protesters allegedly took some keys of the trucks from their drivers.
