Mosimane’s contract with Sundowns not finalised

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane’s contract negotiations with the PSL champions have hit a snag. Mosimane’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

Few weeks ago, he revealed that his contract was 80% concluded, but nothing has changed ever since. It appears that Mosimane is fighting for his image rights to be included in the contract.

The former SuperSport United and Bafana Bafana coach joined the Brazilians in 2012.

He has since won the CAF Champions League, the CAF Super Cup, the domestic league title four times, the Telkom Knockout Cup twice and the Nedbank Cup. He says he is willing to stay with the club.

Sundowns qualified for the CAF Champions League quarter-finals by finishing on top of Group C, after beating Wydad Casablanca from Morocco 1-0 in Atteridgeville on Saturday. They managed to finish the whole group campaign undefeated.

Mosimane is pleased with that.

The draw for the quarter-finals will be made on Wednesday in Cairo, will feature top teams such as TP Mazembe (DRC), Wydad, Raja Casablanca (Morocco), Zamalek, Al Ahly (Egypt), Etoile du Sahel and Esperance (Tunisia).

Andile Jali was outstanding on Saturday.

Mosimane feels that he is ready to return to Bafana Bafana.

Brazilians defender Ricardo Nascimento returned to the starting line-up on Saturday, after he was out due to a long lay-off. He converted the only goal of the match through a penalty. Mosimane is happy he is back.

Uruguayan striker Mauricio Affonso also came back from an injury, although he played for only a few minutes. Mosimane says they bought the South Americans to help them win the Champions League.
