The South African Weather Service has issued a warning that more severe hail storms and strong winds may hit the Ladysmith area in western KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday afternoon.

Ladysmith and surrounding areas were hit by a freak hail storm last night, leaving a number of homes and many streets flooded.

Weather Forecaster Stacy Colborne says the severe weather patterns are expected to persist until Sunday.

She adds that severe thunderstorms are also expected in the northern and western part of province.

“There is a 60% chance of showers and thunder showers overs the whole province today and tomorrow. Cloudy conditions will persist from today and tomorrow as well. We do have a watch out for several thunder storms over the northern and western part of KZN from around two o clock this afternoon,” says Colborne.
