The Moqhaka Municipality in the Free State has started to implements water restrictions in Viljoenskroon and Rammolutsi.
The aim is to allow water levels in the reservoirs to improve.
Municipal spokesperson Dika Kheswa says the supply of water will be affected in the mornings and evenings until the situation improves.
Kheswa says the reason for the water rationing is to try and improve the water levels at reservoirs because the levels in rivers are very low.
He says: “We having a problem of people having water mostly in the high lying areas so we are trying to improve that so that everyone can have water every time. We appeal to the community to bear with us while we implementing this rationing of water.”
