As debate continues to rage on the authenticity of former Zimbabwe First Lady Grace Mugabe’s PhD, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has warned against the awarding of degrees to unqualified candidates.

In November, as former President Robert Mugabe was facing calls to resign, students at the University of Zimbabwe demonstrated‚ demanding that Grace Mugabe’s doctorate be recalled.

Mnangagwa on Tuesday met Vice Chancellors of Universities and principals in Harare in his capacity as Chancellor of the University of Zimbabwe and weighed in on the issue.

“Higher learning institutions should abhor corruption and practices that have seen undeserving students getting passes must stop.”
