MMA puts pressure on the President to appoint SABC Board

The Media Monitoring Africa (MMA) through its lawyers has written to the Presidency to confirm whether or not President Cyril Ramaphosa received the recommended  candidates list of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Board members from the National Assembly (ANC) and to clarify why there has been a delay in the appointment.

Parliament in March approved a list of 8 candidates to serve on the new SABC board.

MMA communication was sent out on Thursday and the President has until Friday, 5 April 2019 to respond .

“9.2 Our clients urge the President to appoint the recommended candidates by Wednesday, 10 April 2019, failing which our clients will consider the legal avenues open to them,” reads the correspondence.
