Mlambo-Ngcuka calls for bold steps to rebuild SA

Former deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka has called for bold steps that focus on rebuilding the country.

Mlambo-Ngcuka found herself at the centre of a similar African National Congress (ANC) recall in 2008, when former President Thabo Mbeki was told to vacate his high office.

On Tuesday, the ruling party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) resolved to recall President Jacob Zuma after numerous attempts to convince him to step down.

In conversation with SABC Correspondent Sherwin Bryce-Pease, Mlambo Ngcuka reluctantly recalled those days in September 2008, while expressing her frustration at the slow pace at which the current transition is being handled.

“Well it was long time coming but right now we need to move on, we need to take big, bold steps and focus on rebuilding the country. This stalemate is not good for the country, we need to get back to being productive and if we are not having consistent messages that are moving us forward, we’re actually losing precious time to rebuild the country. I’m just impatient and exhausted also from waiting,” she says.
