The Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has defended her report on President Cyril Ramaphosa saying she made the determination based on the information she has at her disposal.

The report found that Ramaphosa misled Parliament about receiving a hefty donation for his 2017 presidential campaign from Bosasa.

Ramaphosa has since said he will take Mkhwebane’s report on an urgent judicial review.

He confirmed his decision to approach the courts in a media briefing in Pretoria on Sunday.

Mkhwebane has welcomed Ramaphosa’s decision.

“The evidence which I have I will provide to the court because I am glad that he will be lodging a judicial review and we will respond accordingly and we will assist the court accordingly as far as that is concerned, so I don’t think it’s necessary now for us to deliberate on what they are saying as if it’s the gospel truth.”

“I have the evidence in front of me, I have the bank statements, I know what amounts were paid to which company, to which individual.”
