Limpopo Transport MEC Makoma Makhurupetje has conveyed a message of condolences to the families of the 12 people who died in a crash on the N1 at Botlokwa on Thursday night.

Earlier reports had put the death toll at 11. Two people who were injured during the crash involving a mini bus taxi and a truck, have been sent to the Medi-Clinic in Polokwane and the Mankweng Hospital. Preliminary investigations reveal that the taxi hit a stray donkey before colliding with the truck.

Makhurupetje visited the crash survivors this morning. She has these words of comfort for them.

“We are really devastated about the terrible accident that happened in Botlokwa last night whereby we lost twelve passengers who were both in the taxi as well as in the truck and we are here to visit those that have survived but on the other hand we are saying to the families of the bereaved and the deceased we say we send our condolences as the provincial government,” says Makhurupetje.
