President Cyril Ramaphosa says the proposed national minimum wage is a way towards achieving a living wage.
Last week, workers from various unions marched across the country against the R20 an hour minimum wage and amendments to the labour laws.
Ramaphosa was speaking during his five-kilometre walk with the community of New Brighton in Port Elizabeth.

The walk is ahead of today’s (Tuesday) May Day celebrations in Nelson Mandela Bay.
He says although his morning walks are aimed at promoting a healthier lifestyle, he also uses it as an opportunity to engage with ordinary citizens.
