Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa has sent condolences to the Tshanda family, music lovers and South Africans.
Music legend Dan Tshanda died of heart failure in Sandton on Saturday after receiving treatment for a lung infection a few days earlier.
He will be remembered for his contribution to songs such as Soweto by Splash and My Hero by Matshikos.
Ministerial spokesperson Asanda Magaqa says the loss of Tshanda is a major blow for the country.
“Minister Nathi Mthethwa is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dan Tshanda. He’s someone who made a name for himself both locally and in the rest of Africa. Not just as a performer but a producer. It was only this past Christmas eve that Bra Dan posted a video on social media promising his fans that 2019 will bring change and exciting new ventures.”
