Metrorail technicians work around clock to restore services

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Metrorail says it is aiming to have services restored on its Central Line, between Bishop Lavis, Kapteinsklip and Khayelitsha in Cape Town, by the end of Wednesday.

Trains on the line have been suspended since Monday morning, due to vandalism and damage to infrastructure.

Metrorail spokesperson, Riana Scott says their technicians will continue with repairs on the line throughout the day.

“Our technicians are out there. They are now testing and commissioning and we are positive that Wednesday we will have some kind of mobility back, although that depends entirely on their safety. So for this morning, the alternative transport arrangements still apply. We are not selling singles and returns to enable people to use that money for alternative transport. And our weekly and monthly ticket holders may use Golden Arrow busses from 08H30 onwards”
