Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) boss Robert McBride’s assault case in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court has been postponed till late January 2018.

This is to allow his defence to make representations to the prosecuting authority as to why the charges should be dropped.

Mcbride was charged with child abuse and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm three months ago.

He allegedly assaulted his daughter while driving in his car, but claims to have only admonished her due to her poor school marks and rebellious behaviour.

The Pretoria Magistrate’s Court granted Mcbride a R1000 bail on condition he doesn’t contact the witnesses.

The matter has been postponed until January to allow his lawyers to make representations.
