Reigning International Boxing Organisation (IBO) welterweight champion Thulani ‘‘Tulz’’ Mbenge will defend his title against German boxer Sebastian Formella on Saturday, 6 July.

This clash, which pits two unbeaten boxers against each other, is set for Hamburg and will be Mbenge’s second defence of the IBO crown he annexed when he beat Diego Gabriel Chaves at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park in June last year.

Mbenge, who recorded 12 knockouts in 15 wins, has revealed that he has watched some of Formella’s fights on YouTube.

However, the Mdantsane-born Male Boxer of the Year award holder insists that what he saw on YouTube might not be what Formella, who won all his 20 fights, will dish out when they meet in July.

The former South African welterweight champion is not worried about meeting Formella in his German backyard, saying he is used to fighting in front of hostile crowds.

Mbenge walked away with the prestigious Male Boxer of the Year award at the 2018 South African Boxing Awards ceremony at the Sandton Convention Centre last week Friday.
