Gauteng African National Congress (ANC) member Hangwi Maumela has called for a national shutdown in the country on Monday, if talks about President Jacob Zuma’s exit plan are not concluded.

Maumela has told the media in Pretoria, that Zuma’s intentions are harming the images of the country and the ANC.

Maumela who is the spokesperson of a group calling itself ‘Concerned ANC and SACP members’, says Zuma must leave immediately.

“We plead with you our top six, that today is the last day that we have promised that if you’re not going to call President Zuma then we will take this matter to the streets. We are calling to everybody, that please fellow South Africans, do not go to work on Monday… In all nine provinces, whether you’re a police, nurse, garden boy etc. do not go to work, because this crisis affects us… this man is like Mugabe in South Africa. We can’t be having a Mugabe.”

Meanwhile the ANC says it will take action against members who do not follow party processes. ANC national spokesperson Pule Mabe says the group has no mandate to embark on such a campaign…
