Reading Time: 2 minutes

Popular Maskandi musician Khuzani Mpungose is on a quest to fill up Moses Mabhida Stadium on March 30th in Durban.

He visited Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini at his Osuthu Palace in Nongoma, northern KwaZulu-Natal, to get his blessing ahead of the event

A blessing from his Majesty, for an event that’s set to make history in Maskandi.

Mpungose hopes to become the first Maskandi artist to fill up Moses Mabhida stadium.

Idlamlenze, as he is affectionately known to his fans, came bearing gifts for the Zulu monarch.

The show #GcwalisaIMabhida will be the first of its kind for traditional music lovers.

King Goodwill Zwelithini says:”I hope you as the media you will encourage the masses to come out in their numbers and support such events and everyone should be on their best behaviour when attending these events.”

It’s hoped it will bring unity among artists in the Maskandi music genre.

Mpungose says:”He gave us his blessing for the event to be a success. What happened here today is huge because it encourages other artists to see that our music has a great reach.”

The line-up includes legendary Maskandi artists such as Ihashi Elimhlophe, Phuzekhemisi, Izingane Zoma and many others.

Golden circle and general tickets are nearly sold out.
