Limpopo Agriculture MEC Joyce Mashamba had sacrificed life for the liberation of the country.

The bereaved family spokesperson Sylvia Malumbete says Mashamba was jailed and left her young children while fighting for freedom.

Malumbete says Mashamba was a dedicated freedom fighter.

“She never looked back, she didn’t entangle herself with the things of this life, and she was focused on the course of liberation. She left everything, went to jail she left the kids when they were very small, Nyiko was five, Tiyani was three, Wisani was one. So you can see how she lived the lifeless for the course of liberation,” adds Malumbete.

Former president Jacob Zuma  also addressed the mourners in his capacity as the former northern Transvaal Umkhonto-we-Sizwe unit commander.

Umkhonto we Sizwe was the former military wing of the ANC during the years of fighting for liberation.
