Mantashe confident in IEC

African National Congress (ANC) national chairperson Gwede Mantashe says he has confidence in the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC).

Mantashe was speaking  from the Results Operations Centre (ROC) in Pretoria on Thursday.

Mantashe says he has no reason to doubt the IEC’s results despite several complaints by different political parties about people casting more than one vote.

It has been reported that some voters have been removing the indelible ink after voting, then returning to vote for the second time.

The IEC has appealed to those who have evidence of electoral fraud to come forward with information.

The commission briefed the media at the Results Operations Centre in Pretoria on Wednesday night following reports of alleged double voting by some voters.

Currently, the ANC is at 55.58% nationally with counting concluded in 34.67 voting districts.
