Mineral Resources and Energy Minister, Gwede Mantashe, has called for a mix of technologies in the generation of energy to ensure security of supply. Mantashe says Africa is the most energy deficient continent.

He says collaboration is encouraged in technologies of renewable and fossil generated power instead of contestation.

Mantashe says it is a mix of technologies, whether it’s wind or fossil fuel generation that will ensure security of supply of energy to the economy.

Mantashe was addressing the fourth Africa Oil and Power conference in Cape Town where industry elites are gathered to discuss the future of Africa’s energy sector.
