Police in Mpumalanga have launched a manhunt after a group of armed robbers shot two police officers, killing one of them.

They were allegedly robbing a filling station in KwaMhlanga in the early hours of Monday morning. Police were called to the scene.
A shootout ensued and one police officer lost his life while the other one was wounded and admitted to a hospital.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Leonard Hlathi says, “We are investigating several cases that have been done by this daring gang. We request the community members to be of assistance. Anyone with the information about this are requested to contact Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Magakwe at 082 318 9651, we therefore call the public not to approach this gang because they are armed wherever they are, including some of the firearms that there were robbed from our members and cash that they took from the robbery.”
