Manhunt for Tembisa cash heist suspects

Police have confirmed an incident in which two members of the public have been shot during a cash-in-transit heist in Tembisa east of Johannesburg.

One person has been fatally wounded and the other is in a critical condition in hospital following the incident which happened on Friday.

Police say robbers bombed a cash vehicle and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

Hawks spokesperson, Ndivhuwo Mulamu says the suspects are still at large.

“An armoured vehicle was travelling towards Kempton Park on M57 and it was attacked by a white Toyota Hilux. Shots were fired and a vehicle was forced to a standstill. However, there were civilians that were shot and one fatally wounded and one is still in critical condition in hospital. The criminals gained entry into the vehicle … they ran away with undisclosed amount of money,” adds Mulamu.
