#MandelaLWTF, let’s talk Madiba

As South Africa, along with the rest of the world, eagerly awaits the release of the film based on Nelson Mandela’s autobiography,MANDELA: Long Walk to Freedom, conversations around the film have already started. The conversations are causing a stir on social media circles as vast opinions and thoughts come to the fold.

The Nelson Mandela Centre of memory is encouraging the youth worldwide to join in the conversation by using the hashtag #MandelaLWTF (Mandela Long Walk To Freedom) on social media to express their thoughts about not only the film but social issues raised in the film. The youth are being called to talk about their views on Ideals that have made the former statesman a world icon.

The film is due to be released in South Africa on Thursday 30 November 2013. The film is based on former South African President Nelson Mandela’s autobiography, which chronicles his early life, coming of age, education and 27 years in prison before becoming President and working to rebuild the country’s once segregated society.

5FM DJ and SA Idols judge Gareth Cliff, who is a Legacy advocate for the Nelson Mandela foundation says, “We are encouraging young people all over South Africa to join us on social media. Where ever you are from, whatever radio station you listen to. To hashtag MandelaLWTF (Mandela Long Walk To Freedom) when you’ve seen the movie, let us know your thoughts. Join the conversation, we want to make this the world’s biggest topic. We want to make everyone in the world aware of Madiba, his legacy.”
