Organisers of the Mandela Boxing Festival are confident the main bout will go ahead on Friday night in Bloemfontein. This despite South African boxer, France Ramabolu, exceeding the weight limit.

Six fights have been scheduled to take place to honour former President Nelson Mandela who was also a boxer.

Ramabolu and Angolan Cristiano Ndombassy will slug it out, in a quest to take the IBF Continental Africa title.

Ramabolu has won nine of his 12 fights, while Ndombassy’s record stands at nine wins and two losses.

The fighters promise nothing but blood, sweat, tears and excitement.

Mziwoxolo Ndwayana and Willis Baloyi will face off in a 12-round bout for the SA title.

The Women Featherweight non-title FIGHT will involve Melissa “Queen” Muller and Sindiswa Ncube.

Organisers say it’s all systems go.

The tournament will take place on the 27th of July. It commemorates the 27 years Nelson Mandela spent in prison.
