Suspended Gauteng Mental Health Director Dr Makgabo Manamela has admitted that the NGOs to which mentally-ill patients were transferred from Life Esidimeni did not meet the requirements.
Manamela is back in the firing line at the hearings in Parktown, Johannesburg on her role in the deaths of 143 patients.
Before the adjournment Solidarity’s Advocate Dirk Groenewald grilled Manamela on the capability of the NGOs with regards to the patients they were licensed to care for and the patients that were transferred to them from Life Esidimeni.
