Man arrested for possession of dagga worth R2.5 million

Dagga with a street value of over R2.5 million has been confiscated by Eastern Cape police near Kinkelbos outside Port Elizabeth.

Police spokesperson colonel Priscilla Naidu says police seized 42 bales of compressed dagga weighing over 1 000 kilograms.

The suspicious minibus was spotted by patrolling police. The 24-year old-driver admitted to transporting the dagga to Port Elizabeth and was arrested and detained on a charge of dealing in dagga.

He will appear in the Paterson Magistrate Court on Monday.

Earlier this week, the arresting police officers arrested suspects in the same area transporting 115 kilograms of dagga with a street value of R350 000.
