Murder accused David Ngwenya might be a free man in the next couple of weeks.

Ngwenya has brought an application for bail before the high court.

He is accused of murdering Eskom employee Thembilse Yende.

Ngwenya appeared briefly before the Springs Magistrates’ court, while the court processes drag on, the Yende family is still seeking answers from Eskom.

The family say no one from the utility has come to them explaining what happened to their child.

Yende was found dead in her office in Selcourt, after she went missing for almost two weeks.

The deceased was found with a plastic wrapped around her head.

The family say they intend bringing a civil case against Eskom.

Fourty three year old Ngwenya a technician at Eskom, allegedly murdered Yende after he suspected that she would blow the whistle on a copper theft syndicate he was involved in, but Ngwenya’s lawyer says that they have evidence proving otherwise.

Ngwenya will remain behind bars until his next court appearance on the 31st of January next year.

Meanwhile, the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa says that it has engaged Eskom on workers safety.
