Malema’s walk-in registration call seen as irresponsible

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Researcher Morris Masutha has described  Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema’s call for first year students to walk into various universities across the country for registration as irresponsible.

Masutha says Malema should communicate better instead of causing confusion.

“What I believe is wrong with the leader of the opposition’s view is to suggest or insinuate that if you never applied in a university at all you can just walk in because there’s now free education,” says Masutha.

“In fact if you take University of Johannesburg (UJ) as an example, they’ve just indicated on Wednesday night that they would open for late applications online. Which means if you have passed matric in the past or this year and you meet UJ’s entrance requirements in that window period then you can apply.  They’ll reply in three days so nobody must catch a taxi  from Venda to come and queue at a none-existence queue at UJ,” says Masutha.
