Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)  leader, Julius Malema has called on the Gauteng government to account for missing millions that were supposed to be used for the Alexandra Renewal Project.

Last month, residents in the township north of Johannesburg embarked on violent protests calling for housing development promises to be delivered.

Speaking at his party’s May Day Rally in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg, Malema says former Housing MEC Paul Mashatile and Premier David Makhura must answer to the people.

Malema says they’ve identified many plots of land across the country that could be used for human settlements and agriculture.

He says if the EFF win the upcoming elections, the expropriation of land without compensation will be implemented without hesitation.

Malema used an example of a plot of land in Rabie Ridge, Midrand, that is privately owned.
