Economic Freedom Fighter leader, Julius Malema has accused President Cyril Ramaphosa of not keeping some promises he made during his maiden State-of-the-Nation-Address in February.

Malema says one such example is to save money for the country by reducing the Cabinet.

“Mr President, I didn’t come here with a speech… I brought your own speech which you gave during Sona, and I want to take you on it. You said you were going to reduce cabinets and everyone was excited, and nothing has happened. You actually brought some of the people back into the Cabinet… the Cabinet is still big… 35 ministers and 36-deputy ministers… and they are extremely useless. Reduce the Cabinet, save us money and redirect that money to the needy departments.”

Ramaphosa delivered the Presidency’s budget in the National Assembly on Wednesday. The Cabinet has 35 ministries and each with a deputy minister. Various opposition parties have asked this to be reduced.
