Violent protests continue at the Makeneng village in the eastern Free State where residents have barricaded roads with stones and burning tyres following the killing of a 22 year old man on Wednesday.
The deceased was hit by a stray bullet when police allegedly shot at the protesting crowd.
Protesters went on the rampage on Monday calling for the resignation of local mayor Vusi Tshabalala.
A resident says the protest still continues and learners are seen idling around the area in their school uniform because schools are not operating.
“We can’t go anywhere, people who work only go to report to work then come back, pensioners are not getting their money because shops are closed, and nothing is operating currently.”
