DA leader, Mmusi Maimane has cast his vote at the Presbyterian church voting station in his Dobsonville home, Soweto. Maimane has urged South Africans to come out in their numbers and cast their vote.

He urged voters to vote for the future of the country and for the South Africans who are unemployed.  “The unemployment rate is too high in this country.”

“We must vote for the protection of freedom and the advancement of freedom for all South Africans,” he added.

Maimane says the 1994 promise of a better life for all has been lost under the ruling party due corruption allegations against the African National Congress (ANC).

He further expressed confidence in winning Gauteng. “The ‘contract’ with South Africans is straightforward. It says, let’s make sure we deliver jobs, let’s make sure we can clean up corruption, let’s make sure Gauteng never again has to speak about Life Esidimeni.”

“I am therefore confident about Gauteng and the numbers are showing,” he added.
