Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane and his premier candidates have come together to sign the party’s jobs pledge. Maimane says job creation will be a key focus for the DA.
The jobs pledge commits to a range of steps the party will embark on to ensure that hundreds of thousands of new jobs are created.

Maimane says that the pledge says all provinces must cut the red tape.
“This jobs pledge says that each and every province must cut red tape, make it easier for people to start and run their businesses. We will ensure there is the building of job centres. We want to ensure that we provide free internet to job seekers. We will ultimately establish a one-year internship programme where matrics can learn vital skills as well as earn a cash stipend for themselves.”
The pledge also says sex for jobs must be declared a crime.
The DA leader also boasted about the process his party follows when electing its public officials, but when questioned about the male dominant Premier list, Maimane said that he doesn’t believe in quotas.
“Ideally, I would want more females, but I am not going set a quota for women because I don’t believe in quotas.”
Maimane said Premier candidates were put through rigorous and thorough processes.
Dumelang. Today alongside @Our_DA Premier Candidates we will publicly sign a Jobs Pledge.
This is a 10 point plan on how we will create hundreds of thousands of jobs in government following the 8 May elections.
