Mahumapelo slammed for allegedly mobilising ANC members

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Civic organisation Sanco has criticised North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo for allegedly mobilising ANC members against those who are calling for his removal.

The political turmoil in the province will remain in the spotlight Monday when the Inter-ministerial Task Team, discusses its report on the state of governance in the province.

The team, led by Minister in the Presidency Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, will meet in Pretoria.

This comes as the National Council of Provinces prepares to implement cabinet’s decision for the national government to take over the administration of the North West under Section 100 of the Constitution – a first for South Africa.

In the North West legislature, seven ANC MPL’s have denied reports that the party intends to expel them for allegedly conniving with the EFF to support a motion of no confidence in embattled Premier Supra Mahumapelo.

Sanco provincial secretary Pakete Seaketso says, “You can’t have an acting premier when the substantive premier is not bad ridden or is not out of the country. He is criss-crossing the province on the 18 weeks that he said he will move around the province and mobilise people in our view is a direct fight against the same organisation called the ANC. Now the ANC must act sooner so that he should not use state resources to mobilise against the same ANC.”
