African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Ace Magashule is on the campaign trail in Hermanus in the Overstrand Municipality in the Western Cape on Wednesday.

The seaside village has in the past two years been in the news mainly for its violent protests and economic shutdown by residents of Zwelihle in demand of land for housing.

Their campaign has led to the formation of the Land party, with its stronghold in Zwelihle.

The plight of elderly residents of the mainly white community in Paradise Park facing eviction also placed the spotlight on Hermanus.

Some 300 households of the holiday resort-turned-suburb in nearby Vermont are facing eviction after the property was sold to a developer.

Magashule will engage these residents in Paradise Park before going on a door to door campaign in Zwelihle.

A community rally is planned for the afternoon at the Zwelihle Sport Stadium.
