ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule has handed over cash at some of the houses where he is on a door-to-door election campaign in Phillipe on the Cape Flats.
In one house, he opened the fridge in the house, closed it and gave an elderly woman some notes from his pocket, much to her delight.
Magashule told the provincial ANC officials they must also contribute where they see the situation is dire.
He says: “You can’t get to a house where there is no food and we just go out. We must contribute, its not buying votes.”
“There are millions and millions of people struggling, but the few which I’ll have assisted, it is the right thing to do. It is not buying votes.”
