Mabuza urges ANC members to support Madikizela-Mandela’s family

Deputy President David Mabuza has issued an appeal to the nation, urging South Africans to stay close to the Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s family during this time of grief.

The entire African National Congress National Executive Committee have on Thursday visited the home of Madikizela-Mandela in Orlando West, Soweto.

Madikizela-Mandela passed away on Monday at the Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg. She was 81.

The country is marking 10 days of mourning for the struggle icon with events planned across the country and in many parts of the world.

Mabuza has addressed ANC members gathered in Soweto, Orlando West, saying everyone is welcome. “Members of the ANC, the national leadership will come from time to time here as we prepare for the funeral. You’re all allowed to come here, the support that you’re giving to the family is very important in this darkest hour. Long live the spirit of Mama Madikizela- Mandela long live. Amandla!”
