African National Congress (ANC) Deputy President David Mabuza has officially launched the Chris Hani Volunteer Programme at Komani in the Eastern Cape. Ahead of the start of the programme, Mabuza visited the Lesseyton Methodist Church Heritage Site, Nonzwakazi Methodist Church and the Church of God Saints of Christ.

He says he is in the area as part of the ANC’s resolution to reconnect the party with people. Mabuza says the ANC has a historic relationship with churches.

“We are here because of the decision we took after the conference to reconnect our movement with people, reconnect our heritage and importantly to make this generation to be aware of it. We are re-connecting the movement with its base churches and traditional leaders.”

A minister from Nonzwakazi Methodist church, Simphiwe Mbambani says they are honoured to be visited by Mabuza and his entourage. “ I am aware that apart from the international office present here,  all layers of leadership are here and we want to say thank you and we are proud that , it is not very common to have a deputy president in our mist . “
