Mpumalanga Premier and African National Congress (ANC) Deputy President David Mabuza has dismissed claims that he is harassing and intimidating a Badplaas businessman, as baseless.

Mabuza’s office has confirmed that he’s been served with a temporary protection order in this regard. The order against Mabuza was granted in the Carolina Magistrate’s court on Wednesday. Mabuza has been asked to appear in court on February 19.

The Premier’s spokesperson Zibonele Mngcwango says the order contains allegations that Mabuza intends to remove the businessman from his land.

Mncwango says he cannot comment any further on the matter because Mabuza has instructed his lawyers to look into it.

“We are viewing it as an abuse of court processes because it is baseless and we believe that its malicious, it is intended to tarnish the image of the Premier as well as of Deputy President of the ANC,” says Mncwango.
