Living Legends Programme set to continue

The Department of Arts and Culture says it will continue with the Living Legends Legacy Programme (LLLP), despite the disappearance of R8 million from it.

The department launched the programme in 2015 as an initiative that sought to honour individuals who have contributed to South African arts and culture.

The likes of Don Mattera, Peter Magubane, Abigail Kubheka and Wally Serote are among the legends that the programme is seeking to support.

The department’s Director-General, Vusumuzi Mkhize, says a case has been opened with the police.

“We have also engaged with the higher echelons of the law enforcement agencies to help us fast track this investigation, track down whoever the culprit is and make sure that the law takes its course. We remain committed, as a Department to support the legends as our living treasures,” says Mkhize.
