Limpopo provincial government’s task team on initiation schools says it is ready to monitor over 400 initiation schools in the province this year.

Preparations for the initiation season are underway.

The province has for the past few years not experienced deaths of initiates due to control measures put in place by the provincial government.

Task Team Spokesperson and Chairperson of the House of Traditional Leaders, Chief Malesela Dikgale, says they want to see an incident free initiation season.

Dikgale also says anyone setting up an illegal initiation school in Limpopo will be prosecuted.

“As we usually do, those who are not going to be adhering to what we will be saying will definitely face the power of the law. We do not want to be like other provinces where everybody does as they wish; we do not want to see that.”
